GET TO KNOW MICHAEL
Michael Fabro is a Vancouver guitarist, singer and songwriter. In addition to performing as a full-time musician Michael has taught music, plays for other artists in studio sessions and has worked as a theatre actor. He’s an avid traveller, food and wine enthusiast and world music fan providing the inspiration for his music and performance style.
CAREER BACKGROUND
Michael has been an active professional musician for nearly 15 years performing on stages across Canada as a rock and blues musician. Michael’s Rumba + flamenca fusion inspired style has earned him a reputation for virtuosic guitar work, powerful vocals, and an energetic stage presence.
Michael is a classically trained guitarist holding a Bachelors of Music from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia and a Masters Degree in guitar performance from the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya in Barcelona, Spain. While in Halifax in addition to his musical education Michael worked as a session musician and musical theater actor.
He’s released a number of original songs as a singer-songwriter and his most recent release, Tasting Notes is an instrumental EP in the flamenco fusion and rumba styles.
Michael is a FACTOR funded artist and a grant recipient from the BC Arts Council.
MICHAEL’S MUSIC STYLE
Michael specializes in Flamenco Fusion, Rumba and Latin music but is well versed in Rock, Pop and Blues.
His sets includes cover songs from artists as diverse as the Buena Vista Social Club and the Gypsy Kings to Eric Clapton, Ed Sheeran and Bruno Mars.
Michael loves to cover artists like Santana and Manu Chao combining elements from all the aforementioned genres.
With different types of events in mind, Michael is happy to perform Classical Guitar for ceremonies, background instrumental for elevated dinners and cocktail hours or up-beat, high energy Pop and Rock to start up the dance floor.
