A classical violist by training, Ian Cromwell has spent more than 20 years performing with classical ensembles, symphonies, quartets, and as a solo performer. Ian's love and deep passion for music transcends the cerebral classical genre and winds its way through alternative, jazz, hip-hop, and R&B to take the form of punched-up funky interpretations of rock and pop classics. Ian uses effects, loops, percussive hits, and powerful vocals to craft multi-layered soundscapes in front of an audience that is always left wanting more.
IANβS CAREER BACKGROUND
Ian has performed publicly and privately on streets and stages around Vancouver including Science of Cocktails, TED, the Granville Promenade, Car Free Day, and as part of the VSO Day of Music, in addition to hometown favourites like Guilt & Co. and 2nd Floor Gastown. Before 2020, Ian took the storied stage at Gastown landmark The Blarney Stone on Friday nights with The Sheets. as well as bars and venues throughout the city. Ian is the founder and Executive Curator of Locals Lounge, a local music community incubator for Vancouver musicians.
